May Chakmakian Obituary
May, of Englewood Cliffs, passed away on Saturday, August 27th with her family by her side. May, daughter of Vartouhy and Hagop Halebian, grew up in the Bronx. She graduated from William Taft High School and worked for Columbia Pictures. May married her childhood sweetheart, Harry. She loved gardening, entertaining, playing tennis, traveling, art, music, and above all, caring for her family. She was a former member of Holy Cross Armenian Church, New York; St. Thomas Armenian Church; and presently of St. Leon Armenian Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Harry, of 63 years, cherished children, Christine Badach and her husband, Mark; Barbara Dooly and her husband, Daniel; Ronald Chakmakian, Douglas Chakmakian and his wife, Tanya; adored grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Erin, Jeremy, Megan, Marissa, Emily, Harry, and Adam; loving siblings, Alice Bendian and Michael Halebian; and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-9 PM at St. Leon Armenian Church, 12-61 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. Her funeral will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Leon Armenian Church.

Dear Chris, Mark, Sarah and Jeremy,
My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. I know the great loss you are feeling at this sad time but I also know that the wonderful memories of your mom and grandmother will get you through this tough time. Your faith in our Loving Lord and the place he has ready for your mom/grandmother is a source of great strength. Just knowing she is healthy and happy helps.
