As we approach the 6th year without Michael, I can honestly say that not a day passes where something doesn't reminds me of my departed friend. I pass his neighborhood or place where his business was or a bar or restaurant we ate at or just about anything... Michael is everywhere! I knew him only 4 years and he's gone now 6! He was the kind of person that leaves a lasting impression on your life that will never leave. Miss you buddy!

My dear friend Michael I feel terrible I didn't even know you passed away. I tried to call you and you didn't answer, you always answer or call back. I'm beyond devastated right now. I know you are at peace. I miss you friend.

To my dear and trusted friend Michael, you made me feel like I was your only friend. We all know, that is how you made everyone feel. From the day we met it was like I knew you for years! You had the ability to make people feel important to you and that makes most people feel good about themselves. You had a gift. You had a heart bigger than life itself and one that just couldn't keep up with the person it was inside of. You were filled with love to give and a generous side that was unmatched by anyone!
As we enjoyed our last dinner together the day before you left us, I remember each minute and every laugh. You looked like you were somewhere else that night and maybe you were already on your way on this next journey of yours. I know we will meet again and pick up where we left off.
You were going to stay at my beach house the day you checked out and it will always be there for you. You were always welcome in our homes and our lives. This first week without you to call or meet up with for laughs has been difficult. You will be missed for years to come my friend.
I am sure you have already made an impression at your new location. Cheers to you Mike!

Uncle Mike, I can honestly say some of my life's fondest memories involve you. I remember every trip I took to visit grandmas the question always in my mind was "When do I get to go to Uncle Mike's?" There was always going to be something that was out of this world fun for us to do, such as randomly going to a nets or Yankees game or even just watching some Wrestling DVDs with you and bobby fay and just talking.
I love you Uncle Mike, and Ill see you on the other side.

I think my fondest memory of Michael was when we were kids, and our families were vacationing together at the Jersey shore, Brigantine if I recall. We were a pretty big and I bet loud bunch, five kids in the Giotta family, and four of us Stanchich kids, with both our moms chatting away in their respective Irish and Peruvian inflections. My little sister Lorraine was painfully shy during a period of her childhood, she wouldn't talk to anyone, and Michael, who was older than all of us except Kathleen, would try to coax Lorraine to play and participate. One day I remember Michael running up to us, I think he was reporting back to his mom, and he exclaimed with such a sense of triumph something to the effect of: Hey guess what?!!! I got Lorraine to talk to me!!! I asked her if she wanted to build a sand castle and she said (nodding): "Uh-huh."
Then he ran back to do just that.
We all laughed that that was all he managed to get out of her, and that he was SO excited about this. Yet somehow I think this vivid little memory says a whole lot about Michael's big heart and generous spirit.
RIP Michael. And much love and many blessings to the entire Giotta family.

Michael was a friend of my brother, a beloved friend of my brother. When I moved into my family's home 2 years ago (after the death of my father) I wanted to build a nice foundation for an outdoor cat enclosure. After pondering too long about this I had the idea: My father's BEAUTIFUL stone paved driveway. I wanted the artist who laid his driveway. My brother turned me on to Mike. He, and his hard working crew did a lovely job. When Michael informed me that I would have to sacrifice a rose bush of sentimental value, he read the pain on my face. He very carefully transplanted it, warning me that it would most likely not survive the move. Just this summer I smiled as I noticed the luscious full blossoms on that bush. At the end of that day Mile and I talked for at least an hour. In that short time I witnessed all that I have read about Michael these past few days: his passion for politics, for his work, for people and for life in general. He encouraged me to become a Facebook friend. This is how I ultimately learned of his death. I am so very saddened. I look at my kitties enjoying the outdoors with their very lovely fancy foundation. I am honored to own a piece of his artistry. And, "my" rosebush . . . it will now take on another special significance. Thank you Mike! Rest In Peace. My heartfelt condolences to all who grieve the loss of Michael Giotta.

I've known Michael for over 20 years, both as a friend and client. He was the best! Sweet, super at his job, a great and loyal friend and had the best stories in the world! So terribly sorry to hear he died. We saw each other this December before I left for Buenos Aires. We had promised each other that he would come visit. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Ketaho forhizar! Hi there! Remember when we used to watch spongebob square pants religiously when I was in 6th grade? We would sing the opening song together every time. I really felt like you were always on my level, whether I was 10 or 25...you knew how to make me laugh, cheer me up, encourage me, teach me, punish me when needed (although I don't temember ever being grounded) If we lived in the same house when I was in high school I probably would have been locked in my room quite often...but then again maybe not because you were such an understanding person. You always said what needed to be said and I think it got me through a lot of what we all went through in our long relationship as a non-official family. You really were like a father to me in every way and the bestest of friends not only to me, but to my closest friends as well.
Hey, Remember when you took us to Marco Island, FL? We all we out to dinner in Naples at Chops restaurant one night. Jeanine and I wanted to try some of your beer so you poured some in our glasses...over comes the waiter and says "excuse me, I'm going to need to see their ID's" mind you we were only 17. You tried hard by first trying to convince him that we were of age and when that didn't fly you tried telling him we just wanted to try it, but he wouldn't have it. You ended up pouring the beer back into your glass. Man did we have some laughs after that! Jeanine and I always remember that night when we reminisce. Seriously good times Mike! I miss you, but your energy was too strong for you to really be gone so to me you're still here and that thought makes me feel better. More stories to come...xoxo Anya

I am so sad to hear of Michael's passing. He was a close friend at an important time for me. I will never forget our adventures and his great family. We used to relish in both being "sons of Donegal" by our backgrounds. I last saw Mike at the St. Pat's parade in NYC several years ago.

Mike had more life in his years than people twice his age, and his wit and charm will long be remembered by those he knew. I am happy that Michael was a positive force in my father's life, especially before Dad's recent passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the Wonderful Giotta family. We will see him again some day.

As a long standing client of Michael, it was not unusual to become friends as well. Michael has professionally kept my property beautiful since 1984 when I moved in. I always looked forward to our many long talks about business and the joys of life. Michael was a very good guy and I feel lucky to have become his friend. We shared many laughs together and I genuinely enjoyed his wit and wisdom. I truly appreciated him as a person and as a friend. Everyone should make it a habit to laugh as much as Michael did. I am a better person because of Michael and his life was one well woth living because of his generousity and infectious smile. He would be the first to admit he was rough around the edges but he had a heart of gold. I'll miss you, Buddy!!

Emil and Ann:
I am so sorry to hear the sad news. You never want your children to pass before you.
I remember Michael as a baby when Eggy and I worked for Emile while we were in High School. Sorry that I never got to know him as an adult.
On another sad note, Eggy passed away two years ago in February 2011 - 63 years old.
My wife Valerie and I will not be able to make it to the funeral. We presently live in Omaha Nebraska to be near our oldest daughter and husband and our first two grandchildren.
Best wishes and our deepest sympathy.

I am very sorry to hear of Mike's passing - and send condolences to all the Giotta family. I worked with Mike during the summer of 1978 (we were both sixteen) with Emile's landscaping business. It was a summer of hard work - but even harder laughter as Mike constantly kept things lively, upbeat, unpredictable in the best of ways. Whenever I look back on that summer - even 35 years later- I do so with a smile at great memories of great times with Mike (his hilarious recreations of WWF wrestlers and spot on imitations of Emile's employees, his crazy pet - Rocky the Raccoon, his abstract, freestyle paint job of the Giotta home). All of this still brings a big smile to my face. Rest in Peace, Mike... you made a difference.
