I just heard about Mike's passing, which is a blessing at our age. We were neighbors and classmates; we had the roles of mother and father in the 8th grade play, and I have a vivid memory of our rehearsing our lines while seated in my Dad's car in the driveway. I don't remember Mike as a teenager, which is strange, since I knew several boys in the novice class at Bergen Catholic. Now I'm sorry that I didn't keep in touch with him. He was a good old soul as a boy, and it seems from the notes on this site that he was a good old soul as a man and a priest. You who were his family and friends were most fortunate.

I remember back in the day when i first moved into my town, and saw him taking a walk around town. i received communion when i was in 5th grade and he was the priest. After my communion i would see him everyday taking his walk when i was with my friends at the park. He would stop and talk to me for a while, and ask about my day or he would talk to me about a baseball game. It became a friendship. He gave a prayer during thee burial of my best friends, and he made me feel at ease because i knew they were on the right path following Father Mike's prayer. He was my 6th grade CCD teacher, and i had a question for everything. He would answer my questions, and when i saw him during his walk i would ask more. He would never turn me down, and was always happy to help me out. After he retired i lost contact with him. When i arrived at my house today i told my mom i wanted to go visit Father Mike, and she gave me the news. I was overwhelmed with sadness because i lost another friend. I could not believe it was true and had to google search which led me here. I know he's at a better place, and i'm sure we will forever have a guardian angel. God Bless, and condolences to his family.
Sincerely his friend,
Carin Cali

Father Mike was a regular for dinner in our home on Thursday evenings. My brothers were altar servers at Sacred Heart in Bloomfield. Fr. Mike came to enjoy our family and watch Kung Fu. I recently shared about Father Mike at my women's Cornerstone gathering just last month. As a teenager his Masses and Homilies were inspiring. Lost touch after moving away and getting married. He was a great man.

Father Michael was a wonderful caring and kind priest. He was so kind and helpful to us in our great time of sorrow at the loss of Robbie. I am sure
they will meet in heaven. May Father Mike rest in peace for he is Safely Home.
Please accept my sincere sympathy to his whole family.
