He was my family Dr. since I was a baby and Im now 59. I remember him making house calls to our home on 12th Ave, Newark. He was a great Dr. and I still saw him for many years as a young adult. He always remembered your name and asked about my parents by name. His office was always packed with people waiting to be seen. He was a rare breed and amazing doctor. We need more like him today. He will be forever missed by all!

Dr. Scoppetuolo was our family doctor. He literally treated everyone in our family. He delivered me and my cousins. I moved from NJ a few years ago and just heard of his passing. Whenever I went to his office he would always read the notes from when I was little and make sure to tell me that he remembered how little and sick I was. Just a very personable, warm and caring man.

Dr Scoppetuolo was our family doctor for many years. Even though I was little I still remember him making house calls when his office was a few doors down from our house on Smith St. We then continued to go to him for years when he moved his office at Clara Mass Hospital until I moved to Florida. My prayers and condolences go out to his family. He was the best doctor. He will be truly missed.

This world has no more doctors like Dr Scoppetolo. He was the BEST Doctor in New Jersey. He did make house calls as I lived next door to him on Smith Street and when my children were very sick he would come next door and exam them. He was our doctor for 18 years until I moved to Florida. I asked the Dr to come move with us and he just laughed and gave me a hug. I have never ever found a Dr like Dr Scoppetuolo. He was the Best and will be greatly missed by me and my three children ....Heaven has the best Doctor ever. I miss him dearly and send my condolences to all of his family. Dr Scoppetuolo was my three children and my own family doctor for 18 years and I was very sad when I moved to Florida and he could no longer be our Doctor.. He has been greatly missed by me since I moved to Florida and will now be missed even more ..At least when I went to New Jersey to visit I would sometimes go and see him. My condolences to all of his family and please know he was the Best Doctor I ever had when lived in New Jersey. I used to live at 180 Smith St in the Vaisburg sections and Dr Scoppetolo's office was right next door to my house. That was when I also got to meet Rita his wonderful nurse. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

I believe it began as $4 for an office visit and when Dr. Scoppetuolo moved to Vailsburg, it went up to $5. There was no receipt, he just opened the desk drawer and threw the money in.I knew when he walked into the room said, "What's the matter, Hon?" that no matter what was wrong he could fix it or find a colleague who could fix it. He delivered my daughters and enjoyed teasing me about their Irish names, Maura and Erin. He wanted me to call them Maria and Pattie.I had moved by the time I had my second daughter, and he advised me to find another doctor. When I told him I had to have him, he worried that I would deliver on the Parkway. He was the best and never hesitated to call in a specialist. Only later did we realize the personal sacrifices he made to be available for his patients. Dr. Scoppetuolo, Rita, and Catherine were a great team. Rest in Peace, Dr. Scoppetuolo, and my condolences to your family for their great loss.

was saddened to hear of the death of my beloved Dr. Scoppetuolo. He was my physician for many years not only delivering my daughter, but my nephew, brother-in-law, and many others. I cannot express what a wonderful doctor he was to me for many years and how he took the time to hold my hand during an operation which had occured on a holiday weekend many years ago. He would go out of his way to comfort and help you in your time of need and he was truly an icon in his field. There was never a time I could remember where he would not take the time to answer ALL of your questions, no matter how busy he was. I can remember him being at the hospital early morning until late in the evening. I will never forget his generousity and goodwill towards my family. God rest his soul.

Dear Scoppetuolo Family,
Thank you for sharing your dad with us. He took care of 4 generations of our family starting with my grandparents at the very beginning of his practice right through to my twins. I remember him making a house call to us when I was a little girl. 25 years later he told me how he would love to look at the old folders our records were in because they reminded him of those days. His office was never empty and no one seemed to mind. We all knew that when we would finally get to see him that he would take all the time he needed to help us. We loved him and trusted him. We have no doubt that he is watching over us from Heaven. The Moore, Martin and Lang Families

We send our sincere condolences to the family. Dr. Scoppetuolo delivered both of my children (1969 and 1975) and was our family physician for more than 40 years. He even made several house calls when our children were young. He was a caring professional and always a gentleman.

Dr. Scoppetuolo was our family doctor for three generations from 1955 to his retirement.
We called him Dr. Mike. He delivered my brother & sisters and my three children. I remember him making house calls to our home in Maplewood.
Whenever I had surgery, he would be there. As long as I saw him I wasn't afraid. He answered all my questions - even the silly ones.
I will miss him dearly.

Sincere condolances to his family from the DeMarco and Sherwood families.

Our family extends our deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Scoppetuolo. Your Dad had been our family Dr. for many years. He was with our family in good times and bad ... births and deaths. He was such a good Dr. and man ... we loved him so very much ... from Smith St. in Newark to Belleville. When he retired my heart was broken ... I did see him many times at Clara after his retirement. He will always have our love and respect.

Your dad might have had a tough exterior but we were able to see through to his loving and compassionate side. He was an extraordinary doctor and man. Old school tough but had a caring heart for others which is extinct today. He will always have our love and respect.

I will always remember Dr. Scoppetuolo for his caring and kindness. He made so many housecalls to our family when I was a young girl, knowing that my parents couldn't afford to pay him. What a rare and special human being he was. My heart goes out to his family for their loss. Just know that he touched so many lives and I will always be grateful to have known him.

Dear Michael, Rosemary, Laura Jean, Fred, & Gail,

I was so sorry to hear about Uncle Mike passing. I was just up and saw Mom on Friday, and asked about everyone. I have fond memories of Uncle Mike and Aunt Mimi. Your father has left you a rich legacy and an inspirational life for you and your children to look up to. Miss you all. Love from,

751-5277 - I may have dialed it 100 or 1000 times but it was always answered by Rita or Catharine. Dr. Scop always called back or made a house call. Feb. 3, 1964 - We lived in Bellville - He made a house call - Put me in his car and drove me to the hospital and 20 minutes later a beautiful baby girl was born. Can you imagine a doctor doing that today. Some come close but no one will ever surpass him. He will always be rememberd and missed by the Guglielmo Family.

Dear, Dr. Scoppetuolo Jr.and family, Words cannot express the profound lost the medical community has experienced today. Dr. Scoppy was truly one of a kind in his field. Kind, Compassionate, and always found time for all of his patients. Your Dad delivered me, and my daughter as well. How I miss the days I would see him on Sunday mornings in Celentano's buying the cold cuts and mozzerella, such good memories. My family would like to express our sincere condolences, now we have an AMAZING DOCTOR IN HEAVEN!
