Peter Falco Obituary
Peter Frank Falco Sr., of West Milford, was born in Jersey City on October 9, 1946 to Leonard and Anne Falco. He grew up and attended High School in Lyndhurst, NJ with his sister Carole O'Mara of Colorado Springs, CO.
After graduating from Seton Hall University in 1968, where he was a member of the ROTC, he was commissioned as a 2LT in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Bragg with the 101st Airborne. He deployed to Vietnam in 1969 and returned home in 1970. He served with Bravo Company 1/506th Infantry "Currahee" which suffered many losses while fighting in Vietnam. Peter also served in the Army National Guard for 28 years and retired as a Colonel in 2006. He served in many leadership and command positions New Jersey Army National Guard and Reserves, including as battalion commander of 2/113th Infantry from 1996-1998 and Director of Instruction at Sea Girt from 1990-1996. He finished his career at Ft. Dix training units deploying overseas during Operation Enduring Freedom. Peter wrote a book on his experience in Vietnam with 1/506th Infantry titled "The Battling Bastards of Bravo".
Upon returning home from Vietnam, Pete continued his career as a physical education teacher at Paramus Catholic High School in NJ. He continued his education and became a Vice Principal at West Essex Regional High School and also a Principal in Bloomfield and in Totowa before retiring in 2006. During his years in education, he coached many teams across football, baseball, and softball, including winning a state championship in football with West Essex.
Peter had a deep passion for genealogy and studied his and Kathy's family history extensively, including the writing of a book on the origin of both families. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Kathy and their two children, Peter Jr. (wife Tracy Bess) and Tracy Courtney and (husband Adam). Peter greatest joy in life was being with his family and he was deeply involved in the lives of his four grandchildren Anthony, Jonathan, Joseph and Jason.

This is ironic, I was looking up a obituary for a friend, and this popped up.
When Peter and Kathy lived in Hawthorne, I babysat their child Peter.
I lived next door.
How sad, you both were very nice people.

Pete and I shared Wonderfull years at PC as PE teachers and coaches. I was glad to see Pete when he stopped by school in Rutherford a few years ago. My condolences to Kathy and his children. His stories of how he supported his fellow Nam vets was inspirational.
