Peter Salzano

SALZANO
Peter J., 91, of Pompton Plains, passed away August 4, 2013. Born in Paterson on July 5, 1922, Peter was the son of Andrew and Ida Salzano. He proudly served in the 5th Army Air Corps during WWll. His love of planes and flying endured as a civilian working for Capitol Airlines and retiring from a successful career as a Traffic Manager in the trucking industry.
He loved his home and family, his country and his work. Having just retired in December, 2012, at the age of 90, Peter had worked 19 years in a second career at the Passaic County Dept. of Senior Services in the Telephone Reassurance Program.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years Florence Salzano. He is survived by his devoted children Edie Salzano-Markiewicz, Andrew and Maria Salzano, Peter Salzano and Doug Smith. He will forever be missed by his grandchildren Jill, David, Amy, Laurie, Jeffrey and Ashley and his four great-grandchildren Jack, Dylan, Liam and Graysen. He will be remembered always by his brother- in-law Joseph Elvin and wife Pat and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and work family at Senior Services. He was predeceased by his sister Louise Pantano and brothers Joseph and Alfred Salzano.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends Tuesday, August 13 from 4-8 PM, at M. John Scanlon Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, August 14 at 10 AM, at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Wayne.
