Raymond Moraski Obituary

MORASKI
Raymond, of Mahwah, NJ passed away on March 12, 2013 at the age of 88. He was born on September 4, 1924 in New Britain, CT. He spent his early years there, completing high school in Terryville, CT, during the height of WWII. He, like most of his classmates, entered the armed forces immediately after graduation. He served in the US Army during WWII as a member of the 98th Division, he was en route to Japan, as part of an attack force, when the bombings changed the face of the war. Ray was then assigned to the Occupation Forces in Osaka, Japan. Following that period, he returned to the States to resume his education. He received an undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University and a graduate degree in biology from Fordham University in 1953. He was a research scientist/toxicologist, for 35 years, at American Cyanamid - Lederle Laboratories, in Pearl River, NY. During that time, he authored several research papers and was a member of the Association of Toxicologists. In his retirement years, Ray was employed by Tandem Research, a pharmaceutical marketing/ research firm in Mahwah, NJ. His interest in science continued throughout his life. While raising his family in Ridgewood, NJ, Ray was active in the Republican Party and was part of Congresswoman Marge Roukema's first campaign. He was an active member of his church community and his Lederle retirees' group. Ray is survived by his loving wife of more than 24 years, Helena; his sisters Zenobia Buden and Wanda Moraski; his four children, Karen Moraski, Raymond Moraski, (Andrea), Timothy Moraski, (Petra), Marianne, (Thomas Bascio), three step-children Sean McCann, (Minou), Moira Moderelli, (Rob), Bryan McCann, (Mary); 16 grandchildren; Ashley, Lauren, Stephen, Katie, Nicole, Timmy and Michael Moraski, Laura, Claire, and Audrey Bascio, Robert, Charlie and Henry Moderelli, Dexter, Booker and Seamus McCann and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Moraski and many nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased, in 1985, by his wife Kathleen, (nee Bachmann). Visitation will be held at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, March 15th. A funeral mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ at 11 o'clock on Sat., March 16th. Following the Mass, interment will take place at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Donations in Ray's name may be made to Church of the Presentation Soup Kitchen, 271 W.
