Richard MARRA Obituary

MARRA Richard D., 81 of Clifton died Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Born in Corona, Queens, NY, he resided in Whitestone, NY before moving to Clifton 22 years ago. Richard retired as the Promotion Manager for the NY Daily News after 50 years of dedicated service. He oversaw the numerous annual Daily News sponsored events including the Golden Gloves, the Harvest Moon Ball and Phil Rizzuto's "Holy Cow" presentation. Richard is the recipient of the Daily News Publishers Award and their Golden Gloves Captain Joseph Medill Patterson Award. He is also a member of the Deriter Club, the Young at Heart Club and the Valley Seniors all in Clifton. Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Gloria Napolitano by two daughters Susan Marra-Hoffman and husband, Frank of Bayside, NY, Catherine Reynics and husband, Joe of Hardyston, by two grandsons, Richard and Michael Reynics, by two brothers, David and Anthony Marra both Whitestone, by two sisters, Vera Ioli of LI, NY and Philomena La Rocca of Whitestone. He is predeceased by six siblings. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday at Allwood Funeral Home, 660-670 Allwood Road, Clifton, NJ followed by entombment at East Ridgelawn Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday 7-9 PM, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the American Diabetes Assn.
