Robert Bollard Obituary

BOLLARD
Robert Joseph, a lifetime resident of Wayne passed unexpectedly May 13th surrounded by his family. Born 1918 in Brooklyn, NY to Richard James Bollard and Emma May Mackey, he was the third of seven children. The opportunity for a better life brought the family to Wayne where Robert attended school, eventually becoming an electronic technician at Curtis Wright Aeronautical, Woodridge, NJ. The move also aligned the stars for two people to meet, Literally in their own backyards. Robert "Robbie" met Rose Souza, they married Aug. 13, 1939 and together raised four children. Always industrious, Robert had a paper route as a young boy and often told stories of more than one unfortunate encounter surprising turkeys along his early morning route. Attending vocational school, he was able to learn from the best teachers, many unemployed professionals due to the depression, and became a 1st rate electronic technician. Robert had his own electrical company AAA Contracting and was owner of Mt. View Taxi Co. After retiring from Curtis-Wright, he took on a jpb as an assistant, helping a friend at Struss Motors in W. Milford and Singac. Robert served in the Navy for a short time during WWII and was a proud member of American Legion Post 174, Wayne and marched in many 4th of July Parades. Robert and Rose gathered many happy memories on yearly family vacations from simple trips to the Jersey Shore to cross country treks. Two very special milestones were a trip to Portugal for their 25th anniversary and a trip to Ireland, all safely recorded in photo albums. Family was an important part of their lives; their home was always filled with family, friends, music, laughter and often mayhem. He was predeceased by wife Rose and grandson Robert Joseph Bollard 3rd. Survivors include his daughter Shirley Bock, her daughter Rosanne and husband Chris Keep, Robert Jr. and wife Margo Bollard their daughter-in-law Lisa, grandson Michael Bollard and son Thomas, Arlene Sullivan and her children James, Laura and Jonathan, Dr. David and Linda Bollard and their children Matthew and Kimberly. Visitation at the Keri Memorial Home 125 Main St., is Sunday from 2-5 PM service at the funeral home Monday 10:30 AM followed by interment at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
