Dad is remembered by many for many different reasons. He achieved so much with so little. His teaching by example is for me the most important message he gives. He gave his all, his working many jobs simultaneously and still finding the time to take us older "kids" to Indian Lake or to one of his "jobs" so we could have some quality time together. He showed his love and affection for all of us through deeds if not words. He and Mom jumped in the car and drove me down to Ft. Eustis Virginia when my plane was cancelled and I would have been AWOL, driving through the night but "getting it done". And that was when they were in their 60's and Dad was retired! He always gave us a pat on the back, sometimes a bit too low but always what we deserved. He is with me still, especially when I can find the opportunity to fish with other family members. Dad, We love you dearly and always will. Jay and Christel, your "German" kids.

Condolences from all your friends in the Charbonneau Family with whom you lived in Seattle during World War II, and who will never let you go. We can imagine the good chat Bob and Vincent (1914-2003) are having. Now you have two handsome guys looking after their "best girl" from the other side, dear Margie.
Love and light to you and your wonderful family--
Kitty, Eileen and all the Charbonneaus

Dad, you taught me to look at things many ways.
You taught me to wisely use my days.
Through example, you taught of hard work,
And responsibility we should not shirk.
A man of Honor, Courage and Strength,
Quick wit, corny jokes for we give thanks.
You taught us to try and do what’s right,
You didn’t back away from a justified fight.
Our country, our world owes guys like you thanks,
Because you dug in and waited for Patton’s tanks.
Go rest in peace Father, friend, hero & inventor,
Just so you know, you are my mentor.

Pa I have always looked up to you and tried to listen to everthing you have taught me. I believe you have taught me well, the lessons in life, the talks about fishing, and the countless stories. I will never forget how great of a man you were.

You taught me so much, from wallpapering to to fishing. By your example I learned to work hard, accept responsibility and play the cards I have been dealt. You helped me understand that the glass is half full and tommorrow is a better day. Best of all, you and Mom gave me my faith which has sustained me through my darkest hours. I will miss your sense of humor and regret that we were never able to make one of your inventions a reality. Go in peace to the heavenly reward you have earned for the love you shared and a job well done.

Dad taught us to love, work hard and live life to the fullest. His joy in going on to the Lord, is our sorrow but we are thankful his suffering has ended in such a peaceful manner. Now we will take care of Mom and comfort her in her loneliness.

My favorite memory: Dad told Ron, when we got married, if anything happened to the marriage, Ron would have to leave the family so I could stay...he was truly the grandfather I always wanted for my children!

Dad, Thank you for being such a great and wonderful father to me. You have taught me so many of lifes lessons, faith, hope and love, not just through words, but by actions. Today I will not only mourn your passing, but I will also celebrate your life. Go and rest in peace, for you have certainly earned it. Love, Joey

Dad's Advice to me is a basis for my life. “If you try like everything depends on you, and pray like everything depends on God, everything in life will work out the way it is meant to.”
