Siobhan Milde Obituary
Siobhan Perrine Milde, born September 19, 1969, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 26, 2017, 4:00 pm at age 48. Born in Ridgewood and raised in Wyckoff, NJ, Siobhan, an avid skier, lived much of her life in New Hampshire before moving to Ramsey, NJ. Siobhan is predeceased by her mother, Barbara Dahl and brother, John Milde. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Rachel Rosenthal of Atlanta, Francesca Milde of Glen Rock, NJ, Marina Milde Feeney of Scotch Plains, NJ, her brother, Colin Milde of Mahwah, NJ and 8 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 11th at 2:30 pm, re-pass to follow immediately after service at the Community Church of Glen Rock, 354 Rock Rd., Glen Rock, NJ. In honor of Siobhan, tie dye t-shirts and jeans may be worn.
Siobhan graduated from Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, NJ in 1989. She completed her Bachelor of Science ACS Chemistry at the State University of New York at New Paltz 1992, her Masters of Science and Ph. D at University of New Hampshire - Analytical Chemistry in 2000 and postdoctoral at Kings College, Pennsylvania, 2002. Siobhan was Senior Lecturer and Chemistry Laboratory Director for 13 years and recently at St. John's University, Queens, NY.

I am sad to learn that Siobhan passed away. She and I worked together for several years at Dartmouth.
Siobhan was a dedicated teacher/educator. She gave all of her self/time to students in class, lab, office hours, and extra help time on the weekends. She cared deeply that students not only learned chemistry, but succeed so they could continue on in the sciences or health care field. Students loved her and understood/appreciated what she was willing to do for them. And her TA's thought the world of her, too.
I looked forward to our meetings, coffee chats, and occasional lunches.
Regularly reminding me that she was a "Jersey girl," Siobhan was always full of life, energy, funny stories, and a desire to share ideas about how students' educational experience could be as positive and successful as possible. Especially students of color, first generation students, and those students for whom science was hard but were willing to work hard.
She encouraged, prodded, "scolded," and inspired students to do their best so they could achieve their academic goals.
I know Siobhan will join the chosen few -- the best professors -- in the heavenly academic firmament.
