Stephen Menchini Obituary
Stephen, 68, a long time resident of Bergenfield and NYC passed away on May 13, 2016. Steve bravely confronted major illness with dignity and humor. He is survived by his brother August of Cape Cod and nephews, Ian Menchini of Ipswich MA and Zach Menchini of Molino, Oregon. Steve is missed by his many friends and congregants at St.Peters Church in NYC, especially neighbor Lisa Leff who was a wonderful and thoughtful friend. Stephen was certainly one of the most stubborn and opinionated individuals I have ever known but he was also one of the most generous, kind and considerate persons in my life. His greatest gift to me was simply to call me his friend. I will forever treasure that memory.

Stephen was my dear friend and mentor. We talked everyday and most evenings I went down stairs and would visit with him and his little dog Buffy. We would watch television and I would play with Buffy.
Stephen had many friends that will miss him.
He spoke at the community center on many occasions and we always enjoyed his presentations. The amount of knowledge he had was incredible. Any time he spoke it was a full house.
Most of the time Stephen would be out on the bench in front of our building. We would order coffee from Bruno's and Buffy would sit with us. The bench without Stephen would not be the same.
Stephen you made me laugh, you gave me strength. Your were my big brother who made sure I was safe. I will always treasure the time we had together.
You handled your cancer with courage and dignity.
Thank you my good friend for allowing me to be part of your life. For being the aunt to Buffy and now her mother. I am richer for knowing you. I love you and will miss you. Heaven is a better place now because you are there.
