I have fond memories of this strong likeable guy. We taught together in Australia where we hit the second hand stores looking for his ceramic Pot Lids. Driving on the road going up toward Canberra in the thick fog, I showed some consternation with him taking up the middle of the road . "Oh, I know the road.." Steve lived with us for a year in a 100 year old ranch house near the beach in beautiful Kiama, New South Whales. I had a caged fruit bat out there with us for a while when it was time to release him. Steve wasn't too keen on it hanging on a tree branch too near our entry.... "Would you get that thing out of there..!" Great times listening to "Tunes"at night and going body surfing right after school in the day. (Green Peace hurried to set up their flags whenever he neared the beach.) While scouting the interior we both had some very Aussie sheepskin coats custom made for us. He disliked waiting behind a line of cars so he would sometimes drive off the bitumen road to pass them all while barreling around them on the narrow shoulder. I smile when I think of him.

Is this Steve the one who was a social Studies teacher in Australia in 1975?
If so, I would like to contact his brother who was into crafting leather goods? He lived with my wife and me down under.

My deepest sympathies to the Gries family. Steve's brother, Howard, is my oldest and dearest friend of 50 years, since we were little trouble-making toddlers, and Steve was always our big brother. My heart goes out to everyone whose life was touched by Steve....Rich Kurlantzick

I only had the honor to meet you once.
but the minute we met i realize why Taylor is the way she is. You were a warm, caring person and you loved and cared about your kids more than anything and it showed.
you will be missed
Your friend,
Tracy Roberts
