Thomas Lynch Obituary

LYNCH - Rev. Thomas F., 83. Beloved Pastor Emeritus of Immaculate Conception Church in Hackensack, died Friday at 5:30 AM of heart failure. Father Lynch was born and raised in Orange, NJ and attended Seton Hall University and Immaculate conception Seminary in Darlington, NJ. He was ordained in 1948 and served at St. Matthews in Ridgefield where he continued to have many friends because of the good work he did there with the CYO and other parish activities. He was assigned to Immaculate Conception in 1968 and made Pastor in 1972. Father Lynch served the Hackensack Catholic Community for almost 30 years. He was much loved for his kindness to the poor and elderly, his administrative abilities and his dry wit. Under his leadership the parish school received accolades for the way it was maintained and the great education it afforded the young people of the area. During his tenure he renovated the Church and Rectory at the celebration of the Parish Centennial. Fr. Lynch retired from active ministry in 1997 and was Pastor Emeritus of Immaculate Conception in Hackensack. He outlived all of his family members, however he is remembered and will be missed by his many friends and former parishioners. Visitation from Kenneth Focarino Funeral Director at Kohler Funeral Home, 280 Hackensack St., Wood Ridge, 201-342-2158, on Sunday 7-9 PM. Visitation at Immaculate Conception Church of Hackensack, on Monday, 2 PM, Vigil Mass will be offered at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, 10:30AM.
