Malibu, CA - Dr. Una McGinley Sarno of Malibu, California but formerly Ridgewood, NJ was born, the youngest of eight children, in Dublin, Ireland. In 1972 she enrolled in Fordham University in the Bronx to do her Master's, where she met her future husband, on a Tavistock retreat, the late Ronald A. Sarno, Esq. Dr. Sarno was a teacher at Paterson Catholic, Saint Joe's in West New York, and in the Passaic School System. She had a love of children and was a teacher for over thirty- five years, in four countries. Una also own and ran a very large Irish imports store in Ridgewood, NJ, Una's Irish Heritage, for fifteen years!

At age 70 Una went on to do her doctoral degree and In 2010 won the doctoral dissertation of distinction award from the Association of Teacher Educators. She went on two publish two books 'Learn to Think and Write: Volumes 1&2' which were sold in over 100 colleges and universities, worldwide.

Unfortunately shortly after, Una was injured on the job, one of her students attacked her in the classroom and she was forced to go on permanent disability for her debilitating injuries. She had been dealing with long term pain ever since then and eventually passed in her Malibu, California home with her only daughter, Niamh, their two loving cats by her side, Catticus Finch and Kitty Minaj. She is survived by her sole daughter, Niamh Sarno, who works as a vet tech. and a model, and resides in Malibu, CA.

Dr. Sarno will be missed but her cheerful spirit will forever live on in everyone's hearts. She is a true inspiration and was in a lot of pain the last few months of her life, so she is in a better place and with her loving husband of 38 years, again. The funeral will be Tuesday April 6, at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt Carmel in Ridgewood, NJ, and then buried in holy Cross cemetery with her late husband, and his family.
