William Birchenough Obituary

BIRCHENOUGH - William, age 83, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005. Born in Paterson, he was a life-long resident of Wyckoff. Mr. Birchenough was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church of Wyckoff. A 1939 graduate of Ramsey High School, he served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He was a bricklayer having started his career as an apprentice in 1940 and he worked as a member of Bricklayers Local #4 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department Company #3, and their Five O'clock Club. He was also a past member of the Restored Rusty Relics Car Club of Paramus and a former member of the Tri-Town Fireman's Bowling League. He is survived by his five children; William and his wife Barbara of Midland Park, Kathleen Meehan and her husband Francis of Waldwick, Anne Jaworski of Wyckoff, Frances Indoe and her husband Thomas of Glen Rock, and Barbara Miebach and her husband Kenneth of Wantage. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren; Kristin, Kerri, Andrew and Matthew Birchenough, Michael and William Jaworski, Erin and her husband Jeffrey Devor, Laura and Tricia Indoe, and Daniel, Charles, Sarah, and Derek Miebach. In addition, he is survived by his two sisters; Eleanor Watts of Wyckoff and Edna Flynn of St. Louis, MO. William was predeceased by his beloved wife Viola (nee Stefanowicz) in 1987 and his brother John Birchenough in 2004. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral Prayers will be at the Funeral Home on Monday, 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass, 10 AM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. Interment at Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corp., P.O. Bill and Barbara,



Sorry to hear of your loss. He was a good man and Father. I still remember the 1964 1/2 Mustang and I believe the 1932 or 1934 Model A, that he was restoring. He's in a good place now.....
