William Rose Obituary

BUTLER — Services were held for William K. Rose, 80, of this borough, who died on Sunday, March 15, 2015.

Mr. Rose lived in Pompton Plains and Montclair before moving to Butler. He was a physical education teacher at Richard Butler School, Butler, for 32 years. Also, he taught driver's education and coached basketball, baseball, and track at Butler High School. A 1956 graduate of Montclair State University, he was inducted into the Montclair State University Hall of Fame for basketball and baseball in 1980. And, he was a U.S. Army veteran.

Services were Friday at St. Anthony's R.C. Church, Butler, followed by interment at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Montclair. Arrangements were by the Morrison Funeral Home, Butler.

Mr. Rose is survived by his wife, the former Carolann Flynn; his daughters, Susan Rose, Cheryl Castiglia, and Kathy Franks; his brother, Robert; and seven grandchildren, Allyson, Marisa, Daniel, and Michael Castiglia and Elizabeth, Abigail, and Matthew Franks.

He was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Florence; and his brother, Theodore.

Mr. Rose was one of my favorite teacher's at RBS. He was kind, nurturing and somebody I looked up to. I was reminiscing on FB and saw somebody mention his name so I looked him up and found his obituary. He had an amazing life, so blessed to have had a chance to have him in mine.
