William Schroeder Obituary
William F. Schroeder, Jr., 90, passed into eternal rest on November 16, 2017.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Helen, and great grandson, Kaden, Bill is survived by his wife, Doris, and his five children with Helen, Eileen Van Houten, Mary Rose Blunda (Frank), Elizabeth Anne (Betty Anne) Wisz (Gerald), William F. lll (Lori) and Kathleen Spagnolo (Jeffrey), 14 grandchildren and 15+ great grandchildren. From his marriage to Doris, he is survived by Steve Muller (Patti Jeanne), Cindy Landskron (Tom), Marc Muller (Cindy), Jeff Muller (Stephanie), 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Born in Little Ferry, NJ to William, Sr. and Mary, Bill served in the Navy in WWll as a pharmacist's mate. He began his career at what became New Jersey Transit and retired as a Captain of Police. During this time, he also served as a councilman for the town.
Following Helen's death, Bill married Doris Muller and moved to Lakewood, NJ, finally retiring to Vero Beach, Florida. An avid golfer, he could still be seen on the links at 89. In 2015, along with his son, Bill was part of the Space Coast Honor Flight, which flies war veterans to the monuments in Washington, DC. It was the high point of his later years and he spoke of it fondly.
Bill leaves a legacy greater than life to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Being a Grandpa was the highlight of his life and all adored him. He will be greatly missed.
Cremation was private. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on December 9, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, 40 Vreeland Avenue, Hackensack, NJ at 10 AM.
