Hoffman, son of Joseph and Mary (Hackfort) Hoffman, was born on December 28, 1930, in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm south of Carroll and attended Holy Angels School in Roselle. Lambert later joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War from 1952-1954 with an honorable discharge. On June 10, 1954, Lambert was united in marriage with Marjorie C. Berger at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mt. Carmel, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm east of Graettinger, where they raised 9 children. Lambert spent his entire life farming and was an avid Allis Chalmers fan. The family operated a dairy farm and milked 70 cows for 20 years. To this day, there are always good stories told by his kids and grandkids about milking the cows! While farming and milking cows, Lambert worked at the Morrell Packing Plant for nearly 20 years. He instilled a good work ethic and being late was not an option. He was always helping a neighbor out (or sending one of the boys). He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the American Legion. Later in their years, Lambert and Marge enjoyed the grandchildren and great-grandchildren spending time with them on the farm. Love never needed to be validated, we knew they loved us with all their heart. They always had coffee for anyone that stopped by to visit. Playing cards with neighbors was something they always looked forward to. They had the good fortune of a large family and many friends. During Lambert's retirement years, he helped out at the Ruthven Locker, owned and operated by the family. His wife, Marge, died in 2014 and he was alone on the farm for several years. He missed her every day. In 2018, he moved to independent living in Ruthven, Iowa and then to Parc Hall in 2020. He loved going out to the farm, or to Dean or Doug's for the day. He went to the Clay County Fair every year and loved to watch the horse shows or run into friends to visit with. Lambert's greatest pride was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Jane Hoffman of Spencer; Mary Barrick (Rick Reed) of Graettinger; LuVern Hoffman of Estherville; Darrell (Tammy) Hoffman of Spencer; Doug (LeAnn) Hoffman of Graettinger; Dean (Teaner) Hoffman of Graettinger; Carol (Kelly) Schany of Blair, NE; Danny (Lisa) Hoffman of Graettinger; and Jeff (Dawn) Hoffman of Graettinger; along with 34 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marge, Son-in-law Jerry Naber, Daughter-in-Law Donna Hoffman, Grandsons Jacob Hoffman and Desean Hoffman, Brothers: Norbert, Joseph, Louis, Albert, Leonard, Msg. Lawrence, Andrew, John and infant brother Norbert and sister Mary Ann Handlos.
