Brian E. Baringer, known to most by the name, "Augie," age 66, of Holgate passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, while at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
He was born on Jan. 30, 1958, to Daniel Baringer and Mary Bohlmann Baringer Snyder in Defiance, Ohio. Augie was a 1976 graduate of Holgate High School and Four County Career Center.
Upon graduation, he was employed by Meyer Heating & Air Conditioning. His career was cut short due to being a passenger in a car-train accident on Jan. 27, 1977. The injury endured, left him to walk another journey in his life, and he did so with courage and dignity.
Augie was an avid hunter, enjoyed animals, especially his dog, Corky, and kitten, Callie. He was content watching sports, but most of all he loved and treasured spending time with his family and friends.
Augie didn't know a stranger and always welcomed those who paid a visit. His warmth always present; his smile always big; he wore hope on his sleeve. He accepted any challenge placed in front of him with determination and perseverance.
He NEVER gave up! He was a protector to those who needed it, an advisor to those who asked, and mostly a loyal and devoted son, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Carl Westrick; nieces and nephews, Carla (Corey) Blaker, Olivia and Isabelle, Corey (Becky) Westrick, Joshua, Grace and Noah, Caitlyn (Nick) Badenhop, Theodore and Daniel, Carrie (Mario) Ferrazzuolo, Uli, Maxi, Orlando and Emaline, Curt (Kyla) Westrick, Vivian and Madeline; step siblings, Janet (Steve) Yaros, William (Sue) Snyder, James (Reona) Snyder, Greg (Stacy) Snyder and Melvin (Kelly) Snyder.
Preceding him in death were his parents; step father, Walter Snyder; maternal grandparents, Freeda (Harry) Hovey, Fritz Bohlmann; paternal grandparents, Fern and Earl Baringer.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the Zachrich Family Funeral Home in Holgate, Ohio.
