Brock Carter Obituary

Brock Joseph Carter, 35, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 18 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, while fighting a case of acute pancreatitis.

He was born at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, on March 21, 1989, to Dawn (Richard) Carter and John Charles (Jack) Carter.

Brock grew up in Napoleon, where he developed a passion for sports, excelling in high school football. He was chosen to help lead the team during his senior year as co-captain.

At the end of the 2006 Napoleon Wildcat season, Brock was asked to join a select group of young men from all around Ohio to participate in the Ted Ginn Sr. D-1 college football tour to do combines at 10 major colleges.

Brock later chose to wear a Bowling Green Falcon jersey for one season before deciding that college wasn't his thing. He then went to work at Mitch Cousino's Hardscape, LLC, before landing a job at Sauder Woodworking Co., where he quickly advanced to the position of logistics coordinator.

Brock was known for his extensive sports and trivia knowledge, the ability to make everyone feel at ease and his infectious laugh. He used his creative skills in woodworking to make many projects including shelves, boxes and signs for his wife, a beautiful toy box and a large toy bench/shelf for his sons.

In 2013, Brock met the love of his life, Nicole Strong. The two wed in June of 2016 and had two boys, Ford, 5, and Atlas, 3. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend.

He definitely made an impressive impact on his family, his little town, and everyone that met him.

He is survived by his wife and sons; Dad; Mom and stepdad, Mike Buchhop; in-laws, Dan and Donna Strong; Brother, Chase (Shelly) Carter; step siblings, Justin (Taylor) Buchhop, Stephanie (Josh) Jones and Nathan (Kaylee) Buchhop; brother-in-law, Nate (Hayden) Strong; grandmother, Pat (Jim) Haas; step grandmother, Irene Rauch (Tom Lighthill); Uncle, Chris (Deb) Carter; great uncle, Joe Richard; step niece, Lydia Jones; step nephews, Gannon Jones, Finnley Jones, Kash Buchhop, Mack Buchhop and Calvin Buchhop; and many cousins, two of whom were almost as close as sisters, McKenzie (Ed) Swisher and Kayla (Mike) Shriner.

Brock was preceded in death by his sister, Brittani Nicole Carter, and his grandparents, John Charles (Bob) Carter and Jerry and Barbara Richard.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28 from 2-8 pm at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral, 1010 Westmoreland Ave., Napoleon, Ohio 43545. There will then be a memorial service on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. at Napoleon Church of the Nazarene, 630 Appian Ave., Napoleon, Ohio 43545. A private committal service will be held at Richfield Township Cemetery near Westhope, Ohio, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to Nicole Carter to benefit their children and assist with their future education.
