Byrde June Thielman, 91, of Napoleon, Ohio, went home to the Lord on Friday, July 4, 2025.
She was born on July 25, 1933, in Wauseon, Ohio, to the late Everett and Myrtle (Mortz) Demaline. On Sept. 26, 1954, she married the love of her life, Walter Thielman, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Freedom Township, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2006.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Byrde was part of the church choir and was a founding member of the lady's guild for the church. She had a very creative mind which later led her to also become a member of the Toledo Museum of Art. She would often paint with watercolors and buy and sell antiques to keep busy.
Byrde was an avid gardener, and it was her favorite past time. Her garden also found a spot in the Napoleon Garden Tour as she took so much pride in it. She also made time for sports in her busy life.
Byrde loved to play tennis in her spare time and was part of the Napoleon Tennis League. She was also a member of Wauseon Racket Club in her past years. She was an active member of the Henry County Historical Society and the Bloomfield house.
Byrde is survived by her children, Bill (Lori) Thielman and Doug (Ann) Thielman; grandchildren, Thomas, Julie, Nicholas, Arianna, Matthew and Michael.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Myrtle; her husband, Walter; and siblings, Phyllis VonDeylan and Roland Demaline.
A memorial service will be held for Byrde at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, on Friday, July 11, 2025, at noon, with a memorial gathering from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made out to St. Paul Lutheran Church or School.

As a teenager, I babysat for Doug and Bill. Byrde was a classy lady who exemplified the Christian life. Whenever I visited Napoleon she welcomed me
at church as though I was still a part of the christian life at St. Paul's.
