I am heartbroken to announce the death of my father, Edward "Eddie" Leroy Evans Jr., formerly of Wheeling, West Virginia. He passed away peacefully at Northcrest of Napoleon on Saturday, March 16, 2024, with his wife, Diana by his side.
Eddie will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 52 years, Diana Lynn (Mitchell) Evans; his only daughter, Tracy (Troy); two grandchildren, Taylor and Mark McMahon Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Kieden and Grayson McMahon and Willow Connolly; his only sister, Carol Voltz; two nieces, Jennifer (Tommy) and Tiffany; one nephew, Gregory Jr. (Sabrina); great-niece, Aumariana; great-nephew, James; great-great-niece, Avayah; along with many other relatives and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Leroy Evans Sr. and Virginia May Conrad Evans.
He served in the United States Army in Vietnam. After returning home, he married and then raised his family while working for the City of Wheeling.
I am writing this with tear filled eyes and a heavy heart. He was an amazing dad. He spent so much time with me growing up. He taught me everything from tying my shoes, riding a bike, how to fish and how to play pool.
He was a numbers guy, incredibly smart. He taught me how to read when I was four. He always helped me with my homework. He never missed any of my recitals, plays spelling bees, etc. He was always there.
Some of my favorite childhood memories were going to the Wheeling Downs and watching the races. I have so many wonderful childhood memories that I will cherish forever. I am so blessed that God chose you to be my Daddy. I love you.
Rest in Heaven, until we meet again. - Daddy's Girl.
