Edward G. Kahrs
Edward George Kahrs, 88, of Napoleon, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Northcrest Rehab and Nursing Center.
Edward was born on Oct. 15, 1936, to Arthur and Velma "Toodie" (Schliesser) Kahrs, on the family farm in Fulton County. Edward was a Napoleon High School graduate, class of 1954. Post-graduation, he joined the Ohio National Guard and was called to the Army in 1958, where he requested deployment to Germany.
Edward lovingly married Marjorie R. Zachrich on March 28, 1959, whom preceded him in death on April 17, 2017. Edward's purpose in life was to care for his family and enjoyed spending summers at the cottage on the lake. He was admired for his honesty and humor and will be remembered for his kind and loyal heart.
In his younger years, he helped his father with custodial care at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Napoleon. Later, he was employed at Tenneco for 41 years, working his way from the floor to managing the tool crib. Edward had a strong work ethic. He proudly retired at the age of 62. He was a member of the Napoleon Moose Lodge #788 and the Napoleon V.F.W., Post #8218.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Michelle Kahrs; son, Robert Kahrs; and grandchildren, Nicholas and Alyssa Kahrs. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia (Lyn) Schneidmiller.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Kahrs (2016), and brother, Lee Kahrs.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, at Snyder-Wesche-Hoening Funeral Home (830 N. Scott St.) of Napoleon at 2 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Peter Marcis will be officiating.
