Jamie Lynn (Rogers) Bostelman, 74, of Napoleon, Ohio, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025 at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio.
She was born on Nov. 5, 1950, to the late William and Jeanne (Fullington) Rogers in Noblesville, Indiana, and grew up in Akron, Ohio. She was a 1968 graduate of Copley High School in Akron.
In 1975, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University where she met and fell in love with Gary Bostelman. In 1988, she graduated from Bowling Green State University and received her teaching certificate.
Jamie taught Language Arts and Citizenship at Napoleon Middle School for 22 years. She was a champion for the students who needed a little extra support, whether in the classroom or with needs outside of school.
She poured her heart into the Drama program at NMS, as well as the Ophelia Project - a team mentoring program for at-risk middle school girls. Jamie's passion was to empower her students to go after their dreams.
Jamie was a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon for 37 years. She served in the roles of Sunday School and VBS teacher, After School Club volunteer, a WELCA officer and an officer for several terms on church council.
She was a volunteer for the United Way, the American Heart Association, Henry County Hospital, American Red Cross, Relay for Life and the PKD Foundation. She enjoyed being a part of the Garden Club, where she shared her love of flowers.
She was a proud Buckeye alumnus throughout her life and was involved with the Ohio State Alumni Association. She and Gary took many trips with their fellow Buckeye Alumni.
Due to her Polycystic Kidney Disease, she received the gift of life by way of a liver and kidney transplant in 2013. She was proud to participate in the Transplant Olympic Games in 2016 and was a strong advocate for organ donation.
The family would like to thank all those family members, friends and neighbors who supported them during Jamie's journey through dementia, especially MaKayla Ervin and MacKenzie Harman for their compassionate and loving care during the last year of her battle with dementia.
Jamie is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Gary; children, Christine (Greg) Kerr of Aldie, Virginia; Kimberly (Jon) Egan of Lake Forest, Illinois; and Elizabeth (Dustin) Placke of Columbus, Ohio. Above all, her most cherished role was "Mimi" to her nine grandchildren: Max, Molly and Hannah Kerr; Matthew, Connor and Marin Egan; and Gordie, Grace, and Gwyn Placke.
In addition to her parents, Jamie was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Cox.
Services will be held for Jamie at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. Friends and family will be received at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Friday, Oct. 31, from 2-8 p.m., as well as from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
