John Carper Obituary

John Richard Carper, 82, of Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, and formerly of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away at Baptist Health Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, on Aug. 25, 2025.

He was born in Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 27, 1942, to the late George and Virginia Claire (Wilson) Carper. On Aug. 16, 1989, John married Florine (Magaraci) Cashman.

Upon moving to Napoleon, John began his career with the City of Napoleon, starting with the Park and Rec department before transferring to the Water department. He dedicated over 30 years to the City of Napoleon.

Family meant everything to John and his greatest and most precious time was spent visiting with family, both in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He was an avid lover of animals and enjoyed taking walks.

John is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Florine; children, Daniel (Loni) Carper, John (Margie) Carper and step-son Albert Cashman; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Don Carper, Nancy Carper, Earl Carper and Ed Carper; many nieces and nephews; and faithful canine companion, Bazil.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son Raymond (Sonny) Cashman and his great-grandson David Wittington

Friends and family will be received for a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Annex, Glenwood Avenue in Napoleon, on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025 from 2-4 p.m.
