Maretta Jean Boyers, age 94, of Wauseon passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2024, at Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee.
She was a loving wife and mother. Her life was one of devotion and service, marked by her deep faith and commitment to her community.
Maretta was born on Aug. 7, 1930, in Wauseon. She was the daughter of Thomas and Frieda (Burkholder) Brinkman.
On Sept. 4, 1949, she married Alan L. Boyers, who preceded her in death in 2020. Together, they were very involved in their community and were known for their generosity and kindness.
Maretta was an active member of the First Christian Church in Wauseon, where she taught Sunday School for many years and participated in numerous church functions. Her life exemplified her faith. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was providing rides or visiting those in need. She was recognized for 40 years of volunteer service at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon.
Maretta's spirit of giving extended beyond her community engagements. She will be remembered for her cookie ministry during the Christmas season, baking and decorating hundreds of Christmas cookies for the elderly and shut ins.
Her and Alan's passion for travel led them on numerous trips, including a memorable pilgrimage to the Holy Land. They also enjoyed tent-camping with their family for over 40 years on their private wooded lot at a small lake in Michigan.
Maretta leaves behind a loving family: children, Julie (Jim) Norris, and their children, Jodie (Chaun) Steiner and Jill (Simon) Gundy; Timothy (Vicki) Boyers, and their children, Chantel (Rico) King, Andrew (Kelli) Boyers, Jennifer (Kory) Coleman; Jeff (Debra) Boyers, and their children, Emma (Michael) Kennedy, Alex (Danielle) Boyers and Robert Engel; Greg (Lynne) Boyers, and their children, Adam Boyers, Alyssa (Tim) Gifford, Amye (Frank) Keeling and Ashlyn Boyers; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Violet (Roger) Daily; brother, Larry (Janet) Brinkman; and sister-in-law, Shirley (Richard) Nagy.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Ned (Jeanette) Brinkman; and daughter-in-law, Peg (Jeff) Boyers.
The family expresses heartfelt appreciation for the many family members and friends that kept in touch with Mom through the years and most recently during her stay at Elizabeth Scott Community.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon. Inurnment will be private at the Wauseon Union Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church in Wauseon or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Maretta helped many many people at the Fulton County Health Center. We were so grateful for her steady and sure presence in the gift shop. Such a lovely gracious lady.
