Ann Lawrence

Ann Lawrence, 93, of Henderson, Nevada, formerly of Norwich, died on Sunday, April 14, 2013. On June 17, 1919 she was born in Norwich the daughter of Ignacy and Agatha (Zaborowski) Nowosadko. Ann grew up in Norwich and was a proud graduate of the Norwich Free Academy class of 1937. She worked for over twenty-five years as a nurses' aide at Uncas on Thames Hospital, retiring in 1976. She was known for treating her patients with kindness and respect and often times would give them a back massage before putting them to sleep. After her retirement she remained in Norwich and became actively involved at the Norwich Senior Center where she treasured spending time with her friends and being a part of the center's Golden Nugget Singing Group. She was also very active as a CSEA member of Chapter 403. For the past nine years she has been living with her daughter in Henderson where she enjoyed the weather and didn't miss shoveling snow. She was a kind and generous person, but most of all she was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Peterson and husband Amiel of Henderson, NV; son, Thomas Robert Zahaba and wife Jayne of Bainbridge Island, WA; three grandchildren, Pete Peterson of Honolulu, Hawaii, Lara Benson of Seattle Washington, Danielle Zahaba of Seattle Washington; two great grandchildren, Emery and Thayer Benson of Seattle Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will assemble on Thursday at 9:00 A.M. at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave, Norwich followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
