I often think about Brett. All my memories of Brett were all great. He was a smart kid, tough, competitive, and funny. He used to tell me how he loved Rush Hour 2, reenacting every single scene and rattling off every line. I remember passing the football with him in Maine at Thanksgiving dinners, and playing ping pong or street hockey in the basement, or piling up in the hammock. I will forever wish I spent more time with him.

I was in many classes with Brett at NFA. He was not only a brilliant young man but someone who defied expectations with his own brand of individualism perhaps best exemplified by his signature senior year cowboy hat. Brett and I often disagreed discussing politics, literature, or any subject that came up. We even teamed up as 3 person team to win a HS quiz contest. As long as I have known Brett we have competed and held contrasting views and arguments and every blastin' time he made a good case for me to change my mind; As long as I have known Brett I have deeply respected him including our differences.

To Chuck,Lori,Billy,and Brea,
It is 12:30 p.m. and I just completed the gift for Mark Ambruso in memory of Brett to be given at the celebration..I looked up this page only to find such a beautiful write up about Brett...it showcased his amazing character.... It has been such a crazy year, but the loss of Brett was just so difficult to absorb....we can only hope that somehow each one of you can find the strength to look beyond the sadness and focus on the good times you had as a family..knowing how close you were. When we heard the news ,all of the Berglund family had such a heavy heart ...as you know, we are a family of five too and the thought of life with one gone...it is just so sad,and we are so very sorry for all of you. The celebration of life is such a wonderful idea . A tribute to a wonderful ,bright, well rounded young man... who should be honored for making his mark on this world. Our deepest sympathy, goes out to the Salter family. Love,Paula,Peter,Kara,Joey & Brian

I only met Brett a couple of times but every one of those times with him stands out in my memory. He was kind, caring, full of life and there was never a dull moment spent with him. The world is worse for not having him in it. Chuck. Lori, Brea, Billy, and Katie, there are no words. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope you can find peace in these most difficult of times. Brett and you all will be in my thoughts.

While it is cliche to say nice things when someone passes away but Brett was a wonderful young man. I worked with him for only a few years but in that short time I can say that he was always smiling and if he had 30 stops or 300 stops to deliver he never complained. He had an impact on me and my family (he delivered to my house) and the world will not as bright without Brett.
To Chuck, Laura and the Salter family, while it wont help ease the loss of Brett, know that you raised an amazing young man who I for one will miss dearly.
Sincerely,
Cristian Ripoll and Shannon Slate

Sending my deepest sympathies to Bretts family. My name is Paula, Joes wife from the marina. I had the pleasure of meeting Brett earlier the day he passed. I only spoke with him for a short time but he was such a nice guy! He spoke highly of his fiancé and his dad and how excited he was to work on his boat. I noticed him helping other boaters out as well that day...he seemed like such a genuine guy. Sometimes you meet someone so briefly and they have an impact on you and I can tell thats what kind of person he was. We were so looking forward to having him down at the marina as he had such a great energy about him. I was heartbroken to hear of his passing. Sincerely, Paula

The role of a Mike linebacker is to provide the strength before every play for the entire defense. Brett provided that strength not just with his words but with his unmatched loyalty to the brothers sharing the jersey with him. Brett was pure heart on and off that field. Brett would do anything ever asked of him and gave his maximum effort to get the job done. NFA football is forever grateful for the legacy he left. I am forever grateful for the time I was able to be part of Bretts life. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brett and the entire Salter family
