CHARLES FRANK ROSSOLL, JR. 1926 - 2016
Norwich – Charles Frank Rossoll, Jr., 90, of Ox Hill Rd., died Saturday, July 23, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Doreen (Orme) Rossoll. Born in Norwich, he was the son of the late Charles F. Rossoll Sr. and Mabel (Jones) Rossoll.
Chuck graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1944. He served in the Navy during World War II where he was involved with testing of the atomic bomb on Bikini Island. When he came home, he married Doreen, his high school sweetheart, and went on to receive his degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. After working as a plant engineer at Franconia Paper Mill in Lincoln, NH from 1961-1972, he and Doreen moved back to Norwich, CT where he was the manager of the electrical division of Norwich Public Utilities until he retired in 1991.
Chuck was an active member of Park Congregational Church and many professional, community and fraternal organizations, including Masons, Shriners, National Power Associations, Lions, and Elks. He was well known for his jokes and sense of humor.
Chuck is survived by his sons, Charles Rossoll, III of Brunswick, ME, and Richard Rossoll and his wife Cindy of Lebanon, NH; his daughter, Cheryl Valpey and her husband Wes of White Salmon, WA; and his three grandchildren, Mark Rossoll and his wife Kathryn, Samuel Valpey, and Benjamin Valpey.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Chuck's family from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 27, 2016 in the Cummings Gagne Funeral Home, 82 Cliff St. Norwich, with a service in the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Reliance House, or the charity of your choice.
