Donald Gendreau Obituary

Donald Gendreau November 30, 1936 - December 15, 2011 Danielson - Donald Gendreau, 75 of Danielson, CT, died Thursday December 15, 2011 at home. He was the husband of Claire (Harrell) Gendreau; she died July 7, 2002. He was born November 30, 1936 in North Grosvenordale, son of the late Ovide and Anna (Baron) Gendreau. He served in the US Air Force, as an airplane mechanic, he was part of the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961. He was honorably discharged in 1964. In 1967 he took a position with Pratt and Whitney as a Jet Engine Mechanic, he retired in 1999. He made his home in Danielson most of his life, in his later years he became an avid collector of Star Trek Memorabilia. Don leaves his daughter Colette Allard and her husband Marc of Dayville, grandchildren Shannon and Marc; a brother Robert Gendreau; a sister Carole Wheaton, several nieces and nephews, including a special niece Pamela Bortomioli of Woodstock. A Graveside Service will be Tuesday January 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM in ST Joseph Cemetery, North Grosvenordale, CT followed by Military Honors. Sorry for you loss.
I will always attribute being a Red Sox Fan to Mr. Gendreau, as he took me to Fenway as a little kid, and my interest in Science, as he loved those model planes and talk of Star Trek, and patience when our stuff ended up in his backyard.
