ERWIN WILLIAM VAHLSING SR. 1932 - 2018
LUCIE, FL - Mr. Erwin William Vahlsing Sr. of Port St. Lucie, FL; formerly of Sprague, CT and Queens, NY passed away on July 26, 2018 at the age of 85. After attending the School of Aviation Trades in NY, he joined the army to become a paratrooper, serving in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953 as part of the 187th Regimental Combat Team. He later worked at Electric Boat as an Engineering Assistant until his retirement in 1996. He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years Mildred (Ziske) Vahlsing. He is survived by his 3 children, Erwin Jr., Loretta Olsen and Matthew; grandchildren Matthew, Rachel and Lisa Seidel, Katherine Sayles and Christine Vahlsing and a great-grandchild Maddison.
Erwin enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Beginning in New York in the late 1950's he served in various lay ministries of the New Apostolic Church, before relocating with his family to the Norwich, CT area in 1971, where he continued serving until his retirement.
Family and friends are welcome to join the family at the funeral service conducted by the New Apostolic Church to be held Saturday, September 8, 10:30 a.m. at the United Congregational Church, 87 Broadway, Norwich, CT.
