Francis Baldino Obituary
Norwich - Dr. Francis Michael Baldino DDS, of Wightman Ave. passed away Thursday, September 23, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Francis was born January 19, 1927 in Stratford, CT, the son of the late Leonard and Lena DelVecchio Baldino. He served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of World War II. He worked as a dentist in Norwich for 45 years.
He is survived by his son Frank and wife Emmy Baldino of Bristol, daughters Patricia Souter and husband David of Rhode Island, Brenda Hancock of Scotland, Laura Hargreaves and husband Mark of Norwich; grandchildren Michael Baldino, Stephen Hancock and wife Emily, Margeaux Podaski and husband Jarrett, Michelle Hancock, Christopher Baldino, Meghan Souter, Nicole Dupuis, Alisha Baldino, Michelene Dupuis, Emma Hargreaves; great grandchildren Ryan and Michael Baldino, Gretchen and Edgar Podaski
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son James C. Baldino, grandson David Souter, sisters, Mary Ceccarelli, Ida Nolan and son in law Steve Hancock.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anca Bulgaru and her staff for all their dedicated and loving care; the staff of the Center for Hospice Care Southeastern CT and Assured Quality Homecare, LLC for providing Frank with dignity and quality during the last month of his life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 26, 2016, at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich at 10 am, meeting directly at the Cathedral. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich.
Memorial donations in Dr. Francis Baldino's memory may be made to the Center for Hospice Care Southeastern CT, 227 Dunham St. Norwich CT 06360 or to the World War II Memorial, c/o the Trust for the National Mall, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Suite 370 Washington, DC 20004.

Just learned o Frank's passing, and I'm greatly saddened. He was a dental school classmate, and I fondly remember Frank as a kind-hearted, jovial and conscientious guy who was always a joy to be around. He was considerably older than the rest of us in the class, and thus more mature and level-headed. Almost a father figure to some of us, I would say. My sincere (belated) condolences to his family. He was a wonderful man, and I'm honored to have been one of his friends. May he rest in, and enjoy, The Lord's peace forever.

Hello Patty and Family,
Our deepest sympathies and condolences during the time of your loss. Dr. Baldino was one of the greatest men we've every met. He was our dentist for years but more than that, just a fine human being with always a kind word and never to busy to hear your story. We left Norwich some years ago to move to Woodstock, CT. Finding a reputable dentist has been a challenge and as the saying goes... "They just don't make em' like that anymore". Love & Caring thoughts to all.

Those of us who cared for Mr. Baldino in the Yale Clinics were greatly saddened to learn of his passing. He was a gentle sole who withstood his chronic illness with dignity and hope. Dear Brenda, Patty and Laura,
I will always remember the fun your dad and I had setting up his practice on Broadway. We were so excited to greet our first patient! We played a lot of cards those first few weeks. But before long your dad's compassion, competence, and sense of humor gained him a reputation that had the phone ringing off the hook. A reputation that grew exponentially over the years.
Bob and I will always remember your dad with great fondness and pray your memories will bring you comfort.

I just learned of your dad's passing this evening at Mass. I am saddened for your loss, yet, what a gain for Heaven!
I have such fond memories of him from when I worked at Cooper's. What a sweet, soft-spoken gentleman, and always smiling and friendly!

Sorry to hear of Frank's passing. He was a dear friend and a knowledgeable colleague, with whom I enjoyed many clinical and personal discussions over many years. We took several continuing ed courses together, and he was always delightful company. I will miss his easy smile and quiet sense of humor.

Dear Family of Dr. Baldino - We were sorry to hear about the death of your father. Dr. Baldino was the dentist for my 3 children from 1985 when the oldest child came to him at age 3, until 1995, when we relocated from Lisbon, CT to Cheshire, CT. All three of my children loved coming to see Dr. Baldino and never feared the dentist because of his kind, caring way. My son, the youngest, had a few cavities that needed to be taken care of in his baby teeth at age 4 and he would happily get in the car and say he was "going to see my friend, Dr. Baldino." What a lovely man who touched many lives with his kindness.. I'm sure you will miss him dearly.

Where do I start? When I moved to Norwich in 1973 to start as s surgeon, I met Frank who had the same last name as my best man! (No relation)! We have been friends ever since. I took care of some of his family members and he did that to mine. I was privileged to be with him during the trying times of life. We were able to cry and share emotional moments. The innumerable lunches since he retired were rejuvenation to my psyche and mind. With all that went on in his life he never lost faith in his family, church and close friends of whom I was the lucky one. I will miss him terribly. It gives great comfort to realize that his life was one worth lived and to be emulated. Thank you Frankie!....Sully Ahamed.

To Frank's family you know you had the best, even when he would give you the EYE! Frank was our team doctor, in the Norwich PW/MIDGET football on Hamilton Ave. in the late 60's. One of my best memories of him was he took me to Jay Peak to teach me how too ski. Franks idea of down hill was straight down no turns just blow thimble through the corners/woods. Hence my bestowed name for him became Dr.Death was my way of saying hi Frank. RIP my friend, say hi JIMMIE for ok?
