Herbert Hartman May 29, 1931 - February 9, 2008 NORWICH - Herbert C. Hartman, 76, husband of Bahria "Bi" (Harb) Hartman of 16 Maplewood Court, died Saturday at Backus Hospital. Born in Memphis, TX on May 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Allen and Annie (Curry) Hartman. A retired Lieutenant Commander of the U.S. Navy, he was honorably discharged in 1971 having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He then was employed in the nuclear engineering department at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton retiring in 1993. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed fishing with his friend Kelly Anthony. On September 7, 1957 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Norwich, he was united in marriage to Bahria "Bi" (Harb) Hartman who survives him. Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, Jimmy Hartman of Longview, TX, four sisters, Markie Roberson of Alvarado, TX, Linda Fischer of Phoenix, AZ, Billie Dixon of Canyon, TX, and Jackie Peres of Memphis, TX, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Kenny and Charles Hartman, and two sisters, Dorothy Walker and Pauline Nelson. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Elizabeth St., Norwich. Interment will be at a later date. There is no visitation.
