John Murdock was a mans man who was my best friend since the 3rd grade. Steve Smith and I were with John at Mass General and Spalding Rehab for most of the last 97 days of his life including the day he left us.
John was a friend the likes of which most people will never know. Every day I spent with John was better than the last. He loved life and fought for it till the end.
John I love you and you will never be forgotten! My life will never be the same.

Dear Murdock family, Dr. Wie informed me today that John has died and although I barely got to know him, he was a very special, likable person. He also seemed to deal with his disease and te total randomness of it with courage and .humour, I liked him very much. I hope his soul stays close to you who a are special to him to give you some of that wild courage and "can't beat me" outlook. Kellee S. Fiola, one of his therapists at Spaulding Cambridge

John,
Guess you will be sharing the "Small Bar" upstairs with Rick Mannard now.
Hope " 3's Away" is still being played!

I worked with John many years ago in Indonesia. Always active and never without his tennis gear. Salute.

I worked with John in Indonesia years ago. Managed to stay in touch over the years via the grapevine. He always had a tennis racket with him as I recall. Guess he has it perfected now.

John always made me smile. I worked with him in Indonesia on a few occasions during the 80's and 90's. He was instrumental in convincing me to move to Thailand. I attended his wedding in Bangkok to his lovely wife Phon. I will miss the great telephone conversations we had over the last years while he worked flying the the U.S. and me living in Toronto. I still work overseas and meet many people who remember John. My condolences to his family. I will miss you John and will never forget the wonderful times we spent just hanging out, watching you play tennis against David and drinking your home made beer in Bangkok. What a great person to be taken from us! See you again in another life.
