Laurette Perrault Obituary

Laurette Cecile Perrault July 27, 1922 - April 24, 2013 Jewett City - Laurette Cecile (Gagne) Perrault, age 90, passed away at the Backus Hospital on Wednesday evening, in the company of her loving family. Laurette was born July 27, 1922 to the late Adela Dupuis and Charles Gagne, the second of seven children. She was raised in the Napert Village of Berlin, NH. While there, she met Philip Perrault. With the outbreak of World War II, Laurette became one of the first women to leave Berlin for the defense plants in Connecticut. Laurette and Philip (then in the Marine Corps) were married on April 8, 1944 in New Bern, NC. This memory was a favorite story to tell. After the war, Laurette and Philip made their home in Berlin. They began raising their family, and then moved to Jewett City in 1962. Her life's work was that of being a loving and caring wife and mother. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her family, and making a home for them to enjoy. She kept a beautiful home, was a wonderful cook and always put the needs of her family before her own. Laurette's heartfelt sadness was in the losses of her beloved Philip, who predeceased her on May 10, 2010, and that of her son Ronald, who died in 1992. She is survived by her son Dennis Perrault and his wife Nancy of Waterbury Center, VT; daughters Lucy Yurechko and her husband Philip of Griswold, Diane Gaibrois and her husband Lawrence of Queensbury, NY, Jane Corl and her husband Alex of Hebron; daughter-in-law Anne Perrault of Berlin, NH; grandchildren Lisa Perrault, Kelly (Yurechko) Viggiano, Nicole and Peter Gaibrois, Jesse Perrault, Ryan and Emily Corl and two great-grandchildren - Lucia and Rocco Viggiano. Sisters Florence Lacasse, Adrienne Dube, and Cecile Martin also survive her. A grandson, Michael Perrault, predeceased Laurette. Calling hours will be held 9:45 A.M. - 10:45 A.M. on Friday May 3, 2013 at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Road, Jewett City, CT. A funeral mass will be held immediately following at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church in Jewett City, with interment at St. Mary's Cemetery on Lily Pond Road in Jewett City. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Mary's Church (34 N. Main Street, Jewett City, CT 06351), where Laurette had been a communicant for more than 50 years.
