I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Stankiewicz's passing. I was a student at Mohegan Elemetary before he was principal. One day he was standing in for our regular principal and the nurse was out. I ended up in the nurse's office and later in the Emergency Room with appendicitis. I remember how kind and caring he was while I was in the office. What a wonderful, caring man he was. He will be missed. Yours, Lori (Nelson) Jensen

Please accept my condolences for the passing of your husband. I was a student of his at Mohegan Elementary and was very fond of him. He always had a unique way of getting lessons across to the students and treated everyone the same, as if they were the only student in the room and it was a one-on-one lesson. I can remember coming home right before Christmas break with an ornament for the tree that he had given me. I couldn't name anything else I received that Christmas, that's how great it made me feel. I was never any good with spelling, but he helped me change that. We'd play Spelling Bee baseball in his class, I'd ask for a single (or easy word) and he'd challenge me to take a double or triple! Please know that he is resting peaceful, watching over all of the teachers in every school!

My condolences. I taught with Peter in the 70's and my sons had him for a teacher in the 80's! Peter was always so friendly and so much fun to work with. You are in my prayers.

Mrs. Stankiewicz,
I was also a student of your husband, but in 1972. As is often true of the marvelous teachers, he taught us more things then were on his syllabus. I always looked forward to his classes.

Bus trips to New York were less tedious with Peter along to talk about plays, travels and make general conversation.

Mrs Stankiewicz,
My thoughts are with you in this sad time. I was a student of your dear husband many, many moons ago in 1973. He was in charge of our 6th grade dance. I have him in a group pic outside of Mohegan School. Ironically, I recently pulled that picture out and smiled. He touched the lives of many many people. May your family take comfort in that knowledge.
