Robin Maynard

Robin Maynard February 26, 1961 - October 29, 2010 Voluntown - Robin Maynard of Voluntown passed away unexpectedly at the William W. Backus Hospital Friday eve-ning. She was the beloved daughter of Willis and the late Evelyn (Barry) May-nard, lifelong resident of Voluntown. She was a 1979 graduate of Killingly High School and was employed as a pit boss at Mohegan Sun where she had worked since their founding. In addition to her special companion, Randy Carragher, she is survived by her father and his wife, Willis and Betty Jane Maynard, brother and his wife, Alan and Maureen Maynard, sister and her husband, Kathy and Michael Cates Sr., brother and his wife, Bruce and Deborah Maynard, all of Voluntown, as well as 6 nieces and 4 nephews, 6 great nieces and 2 great nephews, best friends Ruth Blanchette and Mitsy Rudd, and her beloved cat Jack. She was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Maynard and her brother, Willis Maynard Jr. She enjoyed going to the movies with her godson and nephew Matthew and family events. There was a gentleness about her; she could spend hours hand-feeding the humming birds outside her bay window, and her company was enjoyed by all who were around her. Above all, her ultimate passion was photography. Never in the picture, always behind the camera, she was known to make road trips incredibly long, stopping at every chance to capture the beauty of nature. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Voluntown Fire and Rescue Department, P.O. Box 10, Voluntown, CT 06384. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Rd. Jewett City. Interment will be private.
