Walter Patterson Obituary

Walter J. Patterson Died - April 23, 2012 Dudley, MA - Walter J. Patterson, age 95, of 7 School Street, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at home, surrounded by his family. His wife, Gertrude H. (Kruszewski) Patterson died in 2009. He leaves several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ernest, Tootsi and Leo; and by four sisters, Evelyn, Beatrice, Rose and Harriet. He was born in Blackstone, MA, son of the late Ralph and Carolyn (Sloick) Patterson and lived in North Grosvenordale before moving to Dudley in 1953. He was a retired mason He was a World War II, United States Army Veteran, having served in Normandy. He was a member of the American Legion in Grosvenordale and Webster, was a charter member of Valley Springs Country Club, and was a member of the K of C in North Grosvenordale. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening. His greatest love was his family. Walter's funeral will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012, from the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, Dudley. Burial, with military honors presented by the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council, will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, April 25, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Overlook Hospice, 88 Masonic Home Road, Charlton, MA 01507.

Uncle Walt certainly did love his family, and I know he will be sorely missed. I extend my sympathy to the entire family. He was a member of the "greatest generation" -those who served in World War 11. I honor his sacrifice and his memory. May he rest in peace, amen.
