Alan Anderson Obituary

Alan A. Anderson, 62, of Brule, formerly of Sidney, passed away at his home on Dec. 19, 2011.
Alan Albert Anderson, the son of Alvin Floyd and Katie Elisabeth (Christiansen) Anderson, was born on Aug. 19, 1949, at Ord. His family moved to Sidney in 1954 where he attended school until 1965 when his family was transferred to Herlong, Calif.
He attended one year of high school in California and then joined the Army in October 1966, serving eight years stationed in Germany, Vietnam for three tours, Japan, Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Dix, N.J. He was honorably discharged in 1974.
Alan had three children from a marriage in 1972, Theresa (Rick) Davis, Alan (Brandy) Reutzel and Robert Brosius. Alan married Sharon Kay Roth-Rezanina in 1980 and to this union Angela (Mark) Smith was born, he also became a stepfather to Eddie and Charlee Roth.
Alan worked in the transportation field until an accident in 1978 that left him partially handicapped. He later settled in Sidney, where his children attended school. Alan lost Sharon to an auto accident in 2000 and later moved away from Sidney, settling in Brule until his death.
Survivors include his children; one sister, Joyce (Jerry) Heckel; a sister-in-law, Donna Anderson; a brother, Ron (Linda) Anderson; five grandchildren; and special friends, Lana Trumbull and Kayla Trumbull.
Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; parents, Alvin and Katie; an older brother, Kenny; a grandson, Logan Michael; and a nephew, Greg Heckel.
Services will be at 10 a.m. (MST) on Friday, Dec. 23, in the Church of The Nazarene with the Rev. Leonard Suhr officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 3 p.m. (CST) at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel from 1-7 p.m. today. Memorials are suggested to any veteran's benefit organization.
Gehrig-Stitt Chapel and Cremation Services, LLC is in charge of arrangements.
