Catherine Patricia "Cathy" Coder

1933 - 2023

Catherine Patricia "Cathy" Coder, 89, of Lincoln, passed away on Feb. 18, 2023. Cathy was born July 2, 1933, to William and May Cohen in Wallace where she was raised and attended grade school. Cathy graduated from St. Patrick High School in North Platte. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated from McCook College with a teaching degree. Cathy taught grade school in Wallace and McCook. Cathy married George Coder on Oct. 2, 1954, and they were blessed with four children and six grandchildren. They moved to Lincoln in 1973, where she lived the rest of her life. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and all seven of her siblings. Survivors include daughters, Patricia Coder of Lincoln and Pamela (Stuart and son, Patrick) Smith of Overland Park, Kansas; and sons, William (Maria and children, Will, T.J. and Kathleen) Coder of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and James (Stephanie and daughters, Madison and Mackenzie) Coder of Scottsdale, Arizona; and sister-in-law, Sue Kagarise of Newnan, Georgia. Memorials are suggested to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Pink Sisters Convent or to the family for future designation. Online condolences may be shared at bmlfh.com. Rosary is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at St. John's Catholic Church, 7601 Vine St., Lincoln, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Cathy will be buried alongside her husband at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at the Wellfleet Cemetery.
