Clyde Buhrman Obituary

Clyde Ernest Buhrman

March 9, 1935 - October 20, 2025

Clyde Ernest Buhrman, 90, of North Platte, passed away peacefully in his home on Oct. 20, 2025.

Clyde was born on March 9, 1935, in St. Libory, NE, the middle son of Ruth and Conrad Buhrman, and brother to Virgil, Marian, Leo, Betty, Kenneth, Ruth, Larry, and Mike.

Clyde attended high school in nearby St. Paul, where he played both varsity football and baseball, graduating in 1953. After high school, Clyde joined the Marine Corps and was on his way to Korea when he was sent to Okinawa, Japan, where he served in the motor pool and later as a military police officer.

Shortly after his return, Clyde married Rose Mary Lee, his beloved wife of 65 years. Together, they raised six children, Jennifer, Cathy (who preceded him in death in 1971), Chris, Conrad, Luke, and Eric.

For many years, he was active in North Platte St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where he and his wife, Rose Mary, were part of a small group that began the tradition of serving breakfast after Sunday Mass. The couple's five children attended North Platte Catholic Schools.

Clyde's life embodied the work ethic for which Nebraskans are famous. Growing up, he and his siblings worked on their family farm and helped clean their father's tavern. He also epitomized the entrepreneurial spirit, launching and operating many small businesses, and was a pioneer in many of his ventures, including one company started in the early 80s to provide clean, sustainable solutions for commercial crop production and another dedicated to providing chemical and hormone-free beef.

He will be remembered for his love of cards, his wry humor, and his storytelling, all of which were most likely all on full display every Tuesday morning at the weekly pitch game held in his garage. He loved spending time with his family, especially watching his great-grandchildren play.

Celebrating his transition to life with his Holy Father and mourning his loss are his wife, Rose Mary; children, Jennifer (John) O'Holleran, Chris Buhrman, Conrad (Carmen) Buhrman, Luke Buhrman, and Eric (Alexis) Buhrman; his grandchildren, Jacob Buhrman, Jessica (John) Biegler, Sean O'Holleran, Mackenzie O'Holleran, Matthew (Meg) Buhrman, Ellie (Zach) Fisher, Saul Buhrman and Sydney Lowinske; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Ava, Dominic, Oliver, Benjamin, Leo, Vivian and Emilia.

I was very saddened to hear of Clyde's passing.
What a great competitor at 5-point cutthroat pitch! Really appreciated his hospitality in hosting the games every week in his garage.
