Donna Myers Obituary

On Oct. 20, 2023, Donna Mae Myers, 85, passed away at Linden Court in North Platte. She was born to Milton and Erma (Jobbins) Singley, the second of four children, in Dundy County at the family home. Donna was raised in Dundy County and attended Parks High School in Parks, graduating in 1957. As a young teen, she met Albert "Bud" Myers and they later married after high school. Three children were brought into the world from this union, Betty, Larry and Judy. Donna spent her days at home raising the kids while her husband ranched. She was a phenomenal cook and baker and often cooked meals for ranchers. She was especially known for her delicious apple pies. Later, she began working for Stapleton Schools doing janitorial work. The outdoors was where Donna loved to be. She was a member of the Nebraska Horse Association and loved going on trail rides with her horses, Roanie, Cricket and Lady. Donna enjoyed coloring and doing jigsaw and word search puzzles. When there happened to be a rodeo on TV she always knew when and where, it was her favorite TV entertainment. She was very independent and opinionated. Donna was hard to crack but once you did, her love poured out. She was outgoing and typically made a friend wherever she went. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Albert; her sister, Gloria Baker; grandson, Charles Michael Lahyer; and brother-in-law, Bill Baker. Those left to carry on Donna's spirit include her children, Betty (Dave) Boyda of North Platte, Larry (Debbie) Myers of Stapleton and Judy Layher of Stapleton; grandchildren, Tanya (Tyler) Redden of Imperial, Melissa (Freddie Leon) Salisbury of North Platte, Christina Rice of Houston, John (Nikki) Rice of Ames, Iowa, Kayla (Frank) Kramer of Stapleton, Teejay (Chelsey) Myers of Stapleton, Brad (Naomi) Layher of Stapleton, Jerry Layher of Alliance and Stacy (David) Kraye of Mullen; 16 great-grandkids; six great-great-grandkids; her brother, Bob (Sharry) Singley; her sister, Dorothy Singley; sister-in-law, Charlotte Myers; and numerous other family members and friends. Memorials are suggested for the Village of Stapleton Splash Pad project. Online condolences may be shared at adamsswanson.com. Memorial service is at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Alexander officiating. Inurnment follows at the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
