Eva Castillo Obituary

Eva Castillo, 64, of North Platte entered into eternal peace May 21, 2008, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Eva was born Aug. 17, 1943, to Manuel and Bernadine Martinez Valdez in Scottsbluff, the second of five children. Eva grew up in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1962. She attended Hollywood Beauty School in Scottsbluff and received her beautician license in 1963. Eva worked for Modern Beauty Salon in Scottsbluff for two years.

On April 30, 1966, Eva married Pedro "Pete" T. Castillo at St. Teresa's Church in Mitchell. The couple lived in Scottsbluff for five years before moving to North Platte in 1971 where Pete established Pete's Plumbing. Eva and Pete have three children. Eva was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church where she was very active as a volunteer. She taught catechism, was a Eucharistic coordinator, confirmation coordinator, altar cloth seamstress and hostess for St. Patrick's. She was a member of the St. Patrick's choir. She also was a hostess for Miss Nebraska for 15 years and was a seamstress for the Miss Nebraska Pageant. Eva enjoyed sewing and doing alterations for various organizations and individuals.

Eva's life was centered around her family. They were everything to her. Eva was a friend to many and brought joy to many lives she touched. She will be fondly remembered for her gracious beauty and will be missed by many.

You will embark on a fair sea,
and at times there will be fair weather, but not always.
You will meet storms and overcome them.
You will take it in turns to steer your boat through fair weather and foul. Never lose courage.
Save harbour awaits you...in the end.
