Jane M. Phelps

MONTCLAIR - Jane M. Phelps, 95, of Montclair, died March 17, 2005 in Pomona. Born February 14, 1910 in Chicago, Il, she was an Ontario/Montclair resident for 60 years. Retired, Mrs. Phelps had a varied career, which included working for Armstrong Nursery, the County of San Bernardino Municipal County, the City of Ontario and Recording for the Blind. She was a pioneer social worker in Chicago at the Newberry Center Settlement House. She was a founding member of Monte Vista Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Montclair. Mrs. Phelps enjoyed working the daily crossword puzzle and being with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Williams of San Dimas; her stepchildren, Art Phelps of Pomona and Janet Taylor of San Luis Obispo; Grandchildren, Casey Williams of San Dimas, Andrew Huffine of Los Angeles, Eliz abeth Rose of Los Angeles and Kathleen Richardson of Seattle, WA. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Monte Vista Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 9185 Monte Vista, Montclair. Entombment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario.
