Jerry Whitson

1941 - 2020

Jerry Whitson 79, of North Platte, passed away Nov. 13, 2020, at North Platte Care Center. He was born on May 26, 1941, to Woodrow and Margaret Whitson in Hollis, Oklahoma. He grew up in Texas and graduated from Dodson High School in 1960. He moved to Nebraska and worked for several car dealers as a mechanic. Jerry owned Whitson Auto Repair and retired in 2000. He was united in marriage on Oct. 19, 1970, to Sandi McConnell. To this union a daughter and four sons were born. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Woody Whitson. He is survived by his wife, Sandi; daughter, Melissa (Craig) Malsbury of North Platte; sons, Rob (Tina Arguello) Whitson of North Platte, Darren (Phillip Patton) Whitson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Don (Dennise) Whitson of Lincoln and Larry (Tracy) Whitson of North Platte; sister, Alice Kay (Paul) Burch of Amarillo, Texas; brother, Ken Whitson of Oklahoma City; and grandchildren, Reed Wagner of Lincoln, Season Malsbury (George Gipe) of Kearney, Ashley (Bo) Young of North Platte and Arlana (Cameron) Walther of North Platte.
