John Loostrom Obituary

John Andrew Loostrom, 98, of Gothenburg, died April 3, 2013, in Gothenburg.
He was born on Jan. 21, 1915, on the family farm, in Custer County north of Gothenburg, the son of Peter and Marie (Peterson) Loostrom.
He attended New Hope School and Gothenburg High School. He spent his lifetime farming and ranching north of Gothenburg in Custer County and in Lincoln County between Brady and Maxwell. He married Beulah Bedell at North Platte on Feb. 26, 1939, and to this union three children were born, David, Peggy and Mark.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Marie Loostrom; three brothers, Robert, Bruce, Ivan Loostrom; his sister, Mary Ann Carlson; and two great-grandchildren, Lane Michael and Bobbi Jo Loostrom.
Surviving are his wife, Beulah, of Gothenburg; two sons, David (Linda) Loostrom, of Gothenburg, and Mark (Shawn) Loostrom, of Maxwell; his daughter, Peggy (John) Pape, of Grand Island; six grandchildren, Perry (Kristin) Loostrom, of Gothenburg, Wendy Jensen, of Grand Island, Merry (Mark) Danley, of Lincoln, Dr. Jeff (Stephanie) Pape, of Norfolk, Sherry (Ryan) Sanner, of San Diego, Calif., John (Melodie) Loostrom, of Maxwell; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, L. Johanna Bedell, of North Platte, Carol May Brown, of Lexington; brother-in-law, Rod Carlson, of Cozad; sister-in-law, Rosemary Loostrom, of Plymouth, Mich.; along with a host of friends and extended family, as reflected by his recent 98th birthday party.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, at Gothenburg Cemetery with Pastor Robert Litzenberger officiating. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., today, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg, which is in charge of arrangements.
