Josephine Knobel Obituary

Josephine "Josie" Knobel died unexpectedly at her home in Longmont, Colo. last week. She was 47 years old.
Josephine was born in North Platte on June 12, 1962, to Domingo and Stella Martinez. She had a brother and sister, Benjamin and Rosie Martinez. She wed Mark Timothy Knobel and had two daughters, Rebecca and Alissa, prior to Mark's untimely death. Josephine remarried and had two additional perfect children, Kaci and Shane Grimes.
Josie had a remarkable talent for interior design. Her home décor was always beautiful and meticulous. Her favorite place to shop was at thrift stores. She could always find a simple object at a thrift store and make it beautiful. She enjoyed going for walks with her best friend, Julie. Lastly, she also enjoyed watching horror movies, just like her mother, Stella, with her beloved cat, Geisha. Josie was a very beautiful and classy woman who carried herself in a respectful manner. She cared very much for her children and tried her best to make their dreams come true.
Josephine is survived by a large loving family; her children, Rebecca Knobel-Milliken, Alissa Orvis, Kaci and Shane Grimes; her grandchildren, Harrison Milliken, Ava Orvis and Kloe Orvis; her brother and sister, Benny and Rosie; her aunts, Peggy Lovato-Mata, Julie Martinez, Ramona Martinez-Clark, Mary Martinez, Victoria Martinez, Peggy Lovato and Dorothy Ponce; her uncles, Leroy Lovato, Jessie Martinez, Sam Lovato, Richard Clark and Robert Holiday; and her cousins, Karry Matta, David Matta and Amanda Roberts.
Her late husband, Mark Knobel; her parents, Domingo and Stella Martinez; her grandparents, Claudio and Celia Lovato and Sefrino and Elena Luna Martinez; and lastly, her beloved dog, Dakota, preceded Josie in death.
Josie will be buried at McPherson National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 2, at 3 p.m., sharing a burial site with her first husband, Mark Knobel, veteran U.S. Navy. The burial is open to all who wish to attend.

Although we haven't seen Josephine for many years, we will always remember her gracefulness and poise. She was a sweet, loving person and a wonderful mother. We are sure these characteristics took her far in live, and were a great influence in the lives of her children. Unfortunately, I hadn't seen Josie in quite awhile, but I remember her as a very kind and giving person. She is now in the comfort and peace of Jesus and her spirit will live on in the lives of all her children. May God's love comfort Josie's family and friends:)

I am so sorry to hear about Josephine's death. I haven't seen her for many, many years, but I remember getting to know her when she and Mark first married. I then saw her a couple of times in Boulder shortly after she moved to Niwot. My favorite memory is seeing her with Rebecca and Alissa at the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. We had a wonderful day walking around, and that was the first time I met Alissa. I was astounded at how much she looked like Mark. My deepest condolences to all of Josephine's children and family.

Goodbye Josephine. I will always remember you. The walks from Madison Jr. High, and the summer swimming at the Cody Park pool were a blast. May the memories and experiences bring comfort to your family. God Bless. Adrian Casillas, NPHS 1980.

It is so sad to hear about this. Josie and I shared a friendship unfortunately because we had both lost our young husbands and both had two little girls to raise. She loved to go to the gym and use weights in her work out before it was really the thing to do. In fact she bought her own set of gym equipment as I recall. I always appreciated in the years I knew her, how much support she had from family and friends. One of the most naturally beautiful women I've ever known. Inside and out. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I remember both her and Mark from high school. Josie was such a sweetheart and I remember when she worked at the north side Sixth Street and how sweet she was to me and my family when we went there. God bless you all, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
