Paul Broeder Obituary

Paul James Broeder

May 20, 1936 - October 26, 2025

A week ago, Paul James Broeder asked his family not to pray for healing but to pray that his Heavenly Father would take him home. God honored that request as Paul passed away on Oct. 26, 2025, in North Platte.

He was born May 20, 1936, to Agget and Mary (Adkins) Broeder in North Platte.

Paul grew up on the family homestead south of North Platte. He graduated from Curtis Ag High School with the class of 1954. Following graduation, Paul continued his passion for farming while working with his dad on the family farm. On Sept. 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Pace at the Methodist Church in Wallace. In April 1963, Paul and Bonnie began operating a dairy farm that continued for 48 years. Paul served his country in the National Guard. He served the farming industry by being a member of the National Farmers Organization and serving on the National Board of Mid-America Dairyman. He served his community by serving on the school boards of Meadowlawn and Maywood Public School. He served His Lord and Savior by serving on the church boards of Calvary Bible Church and the First Baptist Church. He served on the board of Bethel Bible Camp in Wellfleet and was very instrumental in relocating the camp from Sutherland to Wellfleet. He also served as an area adviser with American Missionary Fellowship, taught Sunday School and led Bible studies.

Paul loved his family and made time to attend his children's and grandchildren's activities. If he couldn't attend, he always wanted to know about their well-being and was known for being a prayer warrior.

Preceding him in death are his parents; infant son, Galen; stepsister, Ronda Bess; and stepmother, Farrell Broeder.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Connie (Greg) Hascall of Bridgeport, LaDonna (Ralph) Swedberg of North Platte, and Roland (Deanna) Broeder of Great Bend, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; step-sisters, Sherry (Bob) Hughbanks of New Mexico, Joyce (Gene) Bellamy of Colorado and Kendra (Ken) Johnson of Missouri; and numerous other family members and friends.

Memorials are suggested to Bethel Bible Camp, 711 Mississippi St., Wellfleet, NE 69170, KJLT Radio, PO Box 709, North Platte, NE 69103-0709 and Calvary Baptist Church, 900 E 2nd St, North Platte, NE 69101. Online condolences may be shared at adamsswanson.com.

Celebration of Life is at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at the Calvary Baptist Church, North Platte, with Pastor Bob Hughbanks, Pastor Mike Murray, Pastor John Lewis and Pastor Roland Broeder officiating. Burial follows at the North Platte Cemetery. Service will be livestreamed at adamsswanson.com. Visitation is from 3-6 p.m., with family present from 5-6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 2, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Let me introduce myself. I am Colene (Adkins) Wilson, the older daughter of the late Harold and Betty Adkins formerly of rural Brashear, MO. Cousin Darlene Adkins called me to let me know Cousin Paul had passed away. I believe the photos below are of his mother, Mary, and could the other be a photo of Paul and his family when they came to Missouri for the Adkins Reunion my mother arranged in 1983? I was so glad to hear of his faith in Jesus. I was able to listen to much of the funeral (between the buffering); it sounded like he was a special person. My sympathies to all the family.

May God wrap his arms about you and comfort you. Paul was a stepson to my Aunt Farrell so we were cousins.

We feel so, so blessed that God brought Paul into our lives about 15 years ago when we started working together for His glory at Calvary Baptist Church! What an honor and privilege to serve alongside Paul - such a Godly man full of Biblical wisdom! We will continue to pray for his wonderful wife and family!
