Richard Soto Obituary

Richard "Ricky" Daniel Soto Jr., 36, of North Platte died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

Ricky was born March 24, 1972, at North Platte to Richard Daniel and Jennie Lynn Saldivar Soto. He grew up and attended school in North Platte, Denver, Omaha and Orlando, Fla., graduating in 1990. He returned to North Platte and worked at various jobs.

He married Gloria Decent and they had two sons. Ricky and Gloria later divorced. For the last several years he was employed with Railcreek Express as a dispatcher, a job that he loved. This past year Ricky's health began to decline.

Ricky loved to be with and care for his children. He enjoyed listening to music, watching movies and playing pool.

Survivors include his two sons, Dakota Decent and Brendon Soto, both of North Platte; his parents, Richard Soto Sr. of North Platte and Jennie Morgenthaler of Omaha; a brother, Dave Soto of Omaha; a sister, Rachel Soto of Omaha; a nephew, Faisaun Germany Jr. of Omaha; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Morgenthaler; grandmothers, Erma Soto and Frances Saldivar; grandfather, Jesse Soto; and an uncle, Jimmy Soto.

A memorial has been established for his sons. Condolences may be shared at www.odeanchapel.com.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Pastor Dwane Johnson of the Riverside Baptist Church officiating. Private inurnment will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Sutherland. Cremation was chosen.

Ricky was one of the most caring and honest people that I have ever known. Just knowing Ricky has probably made many of us that have spent time with him better people. My thoughts go out to the family, and Ricky, You will be missed my friend.
